Innovative science with impact: Strengthening alliances between research, practice and industry
The New Horizons Meeting is a combined health science conference co-hosted by the University of Sydney (Northern Clinical School), The University of Technology Sydney, the Kolling Institute of Medical Research, Royal North Shore Hospital and the Centenary Institute. During the last few years, this meeting has been focusing on improving healthcare through research & education, building bridges between basic science and the clinic and developing research with impact.
New Horizons 2019 Conference will showcase how basic science, health and biotech can benefit patient outcomes and provide for healthy lives for our community. It will encompass the full spectrum from discovery of new knowledge to dissemination of what is known to those who need to know.
Sponsor-supported table displays will be fully integrated into the conference proceedings, with delegates congregating in and spilling out into the display area during morning/afternoon tea and lunch each day over 2 days. Innovation and industry engagement will also be key themes in the program to ensure that our ideas are most effectively translated into practice.
The program will target both basic researchers and clinicians. A large number of delegates will come from the hosting universities, University of Technology Sydney, The Kolling Institute University of Sydney and the Centenary Institute with other delegates from Royal North Shore Hospital. Attendees will include undergraduate/postgraduate students, post-doctoral and senior scientists, clinicians, nurses and allied health professionals.
The conference aims to provide a forum for researchers as well as clinicians across these institutions to present and share their work and to establish important collaborative links – with each other as well as our valued industry representatives. In addition, the meeting will provide an opportunity to establish important relationships with professionals interested in improving health outcomes for all of the above mentioned thematic strands.
